Our Sustainable approach

The Lost Tribe has recently been working hard towards taking action on being a more sustainable brand. We strongly believe that if every brand aims to reduce their carbon footprint the earth will be in a much better state and help out the future generations sooner than later!
Why we are Phasing out plastic bags:

Eight million tons of plastic ends up in our oceans every year, this is clearly something that needs to be dealt with and this is why our brand is working towards reducing our plastic waste… while also trying to encourage others to do the same.

TLT in the future will only have and be transported in biodegradable bags, however in the mean time we no longer post any of your purchased items in plastic. We are putting your purchased items in eco friendly and re usable bags so you can then use them for other daily activities!

Why is plastic bad?
Plastic waste can take up to 1000 years to fully decompose, and in the meantime it ends up in our oceans killing thousands of marine life every year (approximately 100,000 marine animals and 1 million sea birds die every year from our plastic waste- isn’t that terrible?!).

Some may think this doesn’t necessarily affect us directly, but it certainly does!

Plastic toxins are found in seafood that ends up on our plates and is also ending up in our drinking water. This is only going to get worse if we don’t start changing the way we live.

Environmental Challenge:
Take a photo using your TLT eco bag and we will re post it on our story!

Sustainable fabrics:
Plastic is not the only issue with our planet, it’s also extremely important for brands to think sustainable in other ways, such as what we are making our clothing and head wear in! Approximately 80 billion pieces of clothing is consumed every year- that’s a lot and only growing! Therefore it is crucial for us brands to take as much care as possible. We use eco friendly and sustainable materials, for example linen, bamboo and cotton are our most used fabrics.

Linen: Biodegradable made from flax and doesn’t require any chemical fertilizers!
Bamboo: Doesn’t need any chemical fertilizers, requires very little water and is also biodegradable.

The thought behind our scrunchies:

Our scrunchies are not just a cute accessory - we love making them for you because we also know we’re not wasting any of our off cut materials, this means we’re limiting our waste consumption! We want to aim to have as little negative impact on the environment as possible, this is something we will always try and improve on and strive towards in the future!

The Lost Tribe aims to be a more sustainable brand in the future and we hope to encourage everyone else to also reduce their impact on the environment.

Here are a few ways you can use your reusable TLT bags to also reduce your carbon footprint:

- Use your bag for your grocery items (broccoli, oranges etc.) instead of using the plastic bags.

- Take them shopping, a lot of shops will put your items in a plastic bag (try to avoid this if you can- use your reusable bag!)

Tip: We recommend putting them in your handbag so you don’t have any excuses!

- We also recommend using our bags for your jewelry, makeup, toiletries, and other accessories (super handy for traveling!).
